Update: The project will be implemented on three phases as shown below.
El Heiz, located to the south of Baharia Oasis, is a modest village that does not possess a single continuous electrical power source. The lack of electricity has greatly affected the village and leaves its residents unable to enjoy basic conveniences which we all take for granted such as the ability to store perishable food in fridges or to even turn on a light bulb at night. Tanweer El Heiz Project will bring this village into the light by installing solar energy systems that will provide the local residents access to electricity 24 hours a day, besides setting up a villager’s trust fund to ensure the proper maintenance and sustainability of these modern State-of-The-Art installations.
El Heiz is a village south of Baharia Oasis and is home to around 600 households with a total of 3,300 residents. The people of El Heiz adopt a rather primitive lifestyle mostly focused around agriculture, and suffer greatly from the lack of a continuous electrical power supply. This leaves them unable to enjoy the most basic of conveniences such as the ability to store food in fridges- which they overcome by traveling 40 km to Baharia Oasis on daily basis to stock up on supplies. Since their livelihood depends on farming, El Heiz residents spend the daytime tending to their farm land, and are left engulfed in darkness at night where even young students are unable to find a light source to study by.
